Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable HGV Class 1 (C & E) Driver to join our team operating from our factory premises in Ketley, Telford (TF1). The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of water tankers, construction components and plant to various sites throughout the UK.
The role will also combine other duties as driving will not be required 100% of the time. This will include carrying out a variety of manual tasks to support the organisation and ‘house-keeping’ at the Ketley site.
This position requires an organised, ‘self-management’ approach, excellent time management and the ability to work variable shifts, including early starts and occasional weekends / nightshifts. Minimal nights are envisaged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and manoeuvre HGV Class 1 vehicles to designated locations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while ensuring the safety of both yourself and other road users.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in proper working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logbooks, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site managers to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues that may arise.
- Provide exceptional customer service by delivering goods in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist our team with general yard duties when not driving.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid HGV Class 1 license with a clean driving record (no DD / DR convictions).
- Current valid DCPD & Tacho Cards.
- Understanding of and able to comply drivers hours and WTD legislation.
- Previous experience in driving HGV vehicles, preferably in construction setting. Tanker experience would be preferred but not essential.
- Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- CSCS Card (Preferred) – training will be provided to the right candidate.
